Decatur – Verla M. Smith, 101 of Decatur, IL passed away at 9:05 am, Monday, November 21, 2011 in Fair Haven’s Christian Home.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion, with Rev. Connie Green officiating. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Prairie Avenue Christian Church. 
 
Mrs. Smith was born August 31, 1910 in Pontiac, IL the daughter of Ernest and Belle (Teal) Lopeman. She married Kenneth Smith on August 10, 1935. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2003. She was retired from the Rath Meat Packing Company. She was a member of the Prairie Avenue Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and gardening.
 
Surviving is her daughter: Sandra Grace of Rural Decatur; grandsons: Mike Grace of Decatur; and Heath Grace and his wife Kara of Mt. Zion; great-granddaughters: Kendall and Klaire Grace; brothers: Harold Lopeman and his wife Mable of Urbana, Howard Lopeman and his wife Marge of Streator, and Noble Lopeman and his wife Betty of Des Moines, Iowa.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, infant twin children, sisters: Harriet Lopeman and Evelyn Frye, and her brother: Edward Lopeman.
 
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Khan and the staff at Fair Haven’s Christian Home and special thanks to Marilyn and Cathy for all their care and compassion shown to Verla and her family.
